We Will Not Let You Go
By Rohini Banerjee
Take these smiles
and keep them folded,
carefully, in the sheaves
of your memories .
Take this song,
and keep it close:
It is your song,
your symphony:
you are the music
you are the heart.
We don't believe in goodbyes,
only promises of second meetings.
You, who are now taking flight,
breaking the oysters of the world,
your hands are forever clasped in ours,
and we will not let you go.
Going Away and Coming Home:
the inevitable cycle remains.
You, who are now setting sail,
going away, and yet, always,
staying here, with us,
in this strange little home.
Your laughter is forever in tune with ours,
We will not let you go.
You, who we love,
with all our hearts,
you, who are everything,
and will always be everything,
that made us who we are,
You,
we will not let go.
No,
we will not let you go.
