Abke bichade hum shayad khwabon mein mile...

Jis tarah sukhe huye phool kitaboen mein mile...

22nd April marked the day when we bid farewell to our amazing seniors- the Batch of 2014- and the ever graceful Mrs. Kasturi Kanthan. The term farewell always has a sad ring to it but this time, the department decided to do away with the 'ordinary' and hence, 'Carnivalesque' was chosen to be the theme for the evening. An environment of total chaos, good humour and excitement was created where the norms were inverted, literally. A photo booth was erected where not just the seniors but even the faculty posed with amazing props to get themselves clicked. The seniors dressed up as befitted the theme!

The function involved the usual singing and dancing to entertain the guest but what turned out to be extra ordinary was the impromptu gig performed by the students on a popular and old Bollywood number which brought along another dance by none other than Dr. Madhu Grover (MG), Mrs. Kasturi Kanthan (KK) and Ms. Rukshana Shroff (RS). The students had another treat in store when Dr. Gopinath herself shook a leg with KK on ‘dhal gaya din..ho gyi sham..’. The 'Revolting Rhymes' by Roald Dahl were recited to bring back the memories of the time when the seniors themselves had recited them for their department assembly.

But the superstars of the event turned out to be Professors Johnathan and Kanav or rather their impersonations by Pritha and Manosi which earned huge accolades. They narrated the various futile attempts by the juniors to come up with a skit and how in the end they decided to play the parts that were decided for them in the skit without any skit. A Japanese farewell song which holds deep memories for KK was sung by Manosi who was joined by KK. The handmade booksmarks describing the seniors through a unique word were distributed as mementos.

The evening was concluded with KK singing ‘Close your eyes, I’ll kiss you...Tomorrow I’ll miss you..” and everyone turning teary eyed and bidding a sad adieu to the one person who was somehow in every right the magic if not of LSR in entirety but definitely of the English Corridor, the Shakespearean plays, and the English Department.
